My name is Hannah. I’m a qualified veterinary nurse with a BSc Hons degree in veterinary nursing, as well as a lifetime of experience caring for animals. I had the privilege of working in veterinary practice for nearly 4 years, and was also part of the team at Cats Protection as a rehoming and welfare assistant. I am now focusing my time on providing professional pet care services in and around Morley, West Yorkshire.
Leaving your home and furry friends behind can be daunting; whether it’s for a holiday, a weekend away, or for work. Whatever the reason, you want to know that your pet is in good hands. With my experience, knowledge, and love for what I do, you can trust that your best friend will receive the best care and you will be updated every step of the way, as much or as little as you’d like!
You may be wondering what benefits there are to hiring someone with a degree in veterinary nursing and experience in feline rescue to look after your pets. After all, it is true that any animal lover can become a pet sitter; so, what sets me apart from others?
Even if you have an animal whose species I am not very familiar with, or who has a behavioural issue, I am more than happy to learn what it takes to care for them as pets are my passion. I will enthusiastically take on the challenge and listen to your guidance every step of the way.
I will visit your home to make sure that your furry friend has fresh food and water, a clean environment, is displaying their normal behaviours, and is given any medication they need. I will of course also make sure that they receive plenty of love and attention! My visits are an average of 45 minutes long, and if you are away for multiple days I can take out bins, water plants, open/close curtains/blinds to keep the house looking lived-in, bring in parcels, and vacuum the floor as requested.
Did you know that stress can have a significant impact on the health of our pets? Not only can stress exacerbate existing conditions, but it can also weaken the immune system, making them vulnerable to new diseases. The main benefit of my pet visits is that your animals will be taken care of in their own familiar surroundings, meaning the stress of travelling and staying in a strange new place is eliminated, and your pet stays as comfortable as possible right where you left them.
A walk gives your dog the chance to go to the toilet and get some fresh air, exercise and mental stimulation. The solo nature of my walks ensures that your canine companion will get 100% of my attention, which is useful for dogs with behavioural issues, or who like a nice quiet walk by themselves. Safety is also increased during individual walks compared to group walks, as the walker can act more quickly and easily in the event of an emergency, and fights are less likely to occur between dogs.
Dogs require frequent exercise regardless of breed or age, but the form that this takes and for how long will vary between dogs. This service is most popular for people who work during the day and want their dog to get out of the house for a while, have a potty break, and burn off some steam. As they say, ‘a tired dog is a good dog’, so a walk will help them be calmer, more receptive to training, less likely to be destructive in the house, and they will generally be happier and healthier for it. I will also accommodate household pairs of dogs.
Nail care is important for our pets' overall health and wellbeing. Keeping claws at an appropriate length ensures animals can perform their natural behaviours and avoid discomfort. This is particularly true for indoor cats and elderly pets who need a little extra help. I am more than happy to give your pet a pedicure, regardless of their species!
When allowed to become overgrown, claws can curl into paw pads, becoming very painful and even infected. Long nails can also lead to difficulty walking, change the way your pet distributes their body weight, and can make health issues like arthritis even worse. Pain may also have an impact on your pet’s behaviour, such as how tolerant they are of handling, aggression when the painful area is touched, and changes in appetite. You wouldn’t feel so hot if you were hurting either! Keeping your pet’s nails trimmed may also help reduce damage to your skin, furniture, and flooring.
Our pets’ ears require regular inspection and cleaning to keep them healthy and free of debris. This is an area of care which is often overlooked. I will gladly clean your pet’s ears for you. It is very important to regularly inspect your pet’s ears for excessive wax, discharge, foul odours, and redness/inflammation. These signs can indicate the presence of infection or parasites such as ear mites, so it is vital that we are there for our furry friends and help them out by keeping their ears clean.
Did you know that dog breeds with very hairy, floppy or long ears are more prone to ear infections? This is because it is more difficult for air to circulate into the ears, trapping moisture and warmth for bacteria and yeasts to grow. This can be particularly true if your dog has regular baths or enjoys swimming, as it can be a little harder for the ears to dry out properly.

“Phoebe was on her best behaviour for once and didn’t mind the nail pamper session from Hannah. Hannah was so lovely and professional, also she is a natural caring animal lover who we will be using again. Five stars and highly recommended.”
“Hannah walked our dog today and yesterday. Rocco absolutely loved her. She is very trustworthy and made sure he had a good walk for us. We will definitely be using Hannah again in the future and would highly recommend. Thank you Hannah.”
“Hannah was a natural with my cats. So loving yet got the job done to trim their nails. Booked her in for cat sitting too and she presented all appropriate documentation as a professional would. 5 stars.”
“Hannah is doing a house visit for our 2 dogs on our wedding day. They're big dogs and Bronson does not like strangers in the house. Hannah has done a few visits prior and today a solo visit which went really well, Bronson can really bark which can be intimidating, but Hannah has been so confident and calm with him. I have no worries at all for our wedding day now and know they'll be absolutely fine. We're hoping to book in for future visits too.”
“Hannah came to do a home visit, she was so lovely and gentle with Lucy and Lucy thoroughly enjoyed a cuddle with Hannah and treat afterwards. It was a totally stress free experience for us both. Will definitely use Tender Tails again. The price was very reasonable too. I would high recommend this service.”
“We reached out to Hannah as our 4 month pup had been scratching and pawing at his ears quite a lot. We had tried to clean them ourselves but he wouldn’t let us near his ears. Hannah came and managed to let him get in there. He was so calm with her and she was so helpful with the recommendations on maintenance which we really appreciated! Would definitely recommend!”
“Hannah visited today to do some claw clipping on our two 9 year old cats. They've never let us cut their claws (despite numerous attempts!), but Hannah managed to do both of them within 20 minutes with no scratches or hisses! She was very calm and gentle with them, and they even let her stroke them after she'd finished. Very impressed with the service from Hannah and will definitely be using her again.”
“Hannah visited our house this afternoon to cut our 11 year old long haired cat's claws and to help me take out a couple of tricky matts in her fur. Hannah was so lovely and patient with our lady especially with her being a little fed up with what we were doing to her and a few hisses. Hannah ensured Misty was happy and not too overwhelmed with the procedure and we will definitely book in with Hannah next time. Thank you for your patience today Hannah.”
“Hannah was very thorough in getting to know all about our dog on her initial visit, taking care to tailor his walks to his needs. Polite and professional throughout, happy to be flexible when we need it, and clearly has the knack, as Toby has taken to her straight away. Definitely recommended.”
“We adopted 2 ten year old boys, who were very shy and nervous. Bear found the change a little hard and had a few issues. We contacted Hannah and working as a team, we put lots of things in place to support him. Hannah was incredible. We had lots of get to know you visits. Hannah worked her magic and a couple of days after we left for our first proper holiday, Bear left his "den" and they now both have a very special friend in Hannah. She could not have done more to look after them. We went away and were able to relax knowing they were in safe and experienced hands. We are grateful to Hannah for looking after our special boys and our home.”
“Hannah was so brilliant whilst clipping my dogs nails - even when she was wriggling about, she stayed completely calm and was so loving towards her. Thank you so much.”
“Hannah is amazing, I'm so pleased that I found her! First she helped me take my fluffy boy Brian to his vets to get his matts clipped. Hannah also cared for him whilst I was away at the weekend and did a fantastic job, coming up with ideas to keep him entertained and sending me lovely photos and videos. Just so reassuring and caring. Thank you so much Hannah! xx”
“Hannah was amazing from start to finish. She came a few days before to meet my cat and get to know us both and our routines. I booked Hannah for a a few visits whilst I’ve been away and she’s shown nothing but care and love for Pebbles. She has kept me updated everyday, videos and pictures to keep me at ease. She played with pebbles, kept her fed and watered as well as cleared out the little tray. Nothing was ever too much trouble.”
“Hannah looked after our cat while we were on holiday. We organised 2 visits a day and were really impressed! Hannah gave us daily updates via What’s App including photos and videos. We felt totally reassured and were really glad we had chosen Hannah over using a local Cattery. Hannah built a really good relationship with our cat and even sent us a photo of him snuggling on her shoulder! We were also grateful to come home to a tidy and clean house as Hannah had kindly hoovered for us before we got home. Our cat was totally settled upon our return and I would highly recommend and most certainly use Hannah again.”
“We have just been away for 10 days and Hannah
provided an excellent service. She visited our 2 cats twice daily and we
could see the difference when we got home. They were very happy cats.
Normally they are looked after by our family members but there was no
consistency for them. They wouldn’t know who was coming or when.
Milo is a very solitary cat but he appreciated being let outside frequently
😃
Tilly loved all the cuddles and attention she got from Hannah. Hannah even
managed to get a brush through her which is unheard of 😆
Hannah also watered out plants and opened/closed our curtains, took the bins
out etc…”
“Hannah looked after our cat Suzie 😺 over 4 days while we were away. Hannah met with Suzie before we went away and went through all Suzie's care. Hannah had a very understanding, caring and thoughtful manner and we felt at ease leaving Suzie in her care. Hannah did an amazing job and updated us each day which we very much appreciated. I would definitely recommend Hannah.❤️”
“Absolutely recommend Hannah 100% I was at total peace knowing my furbabies were well looked after. I was constantly updated with pics and could not have asked for anything more. What turned out to be a potentially anxious trip for me leaving my furbabies, actually was a nice and relaxing one so thankyou hannah. You are an absolute dream.”
“Hannah stepped in to help us a reasonable short notice. She took time to come and meet us and the dogs too. She has given us lots of options for what we wanted . Her service was outstanding she sent a few pictures which was very reassuring for us . I would highly recommend and will definitely be using her service again. Thank you 🐶🐾🦴”
“Can't thank this lass enough! My Marley had to take his final journey over the rainbow 🌈 bridge today. Hannah took us to the vets, stayed with us throughout and then on to the crematorium. Amazing compassion and understanding.”
“I would just like to say a huge thank you to Hannah for being so wonderful with Bob over the last couple of weeks. I am extremely satisfied with the service, and so is Bob (he told me 😃). We will definitely be asking you to come and walk Bob again soon. I definitely recommend Hannah's service. 5 Stars.”
