About

Leaving your home and furry friends behind can be daunting; whether it’s for a holiday, a weekend away, or for work. Whatever the reason, you want to know that your pet is in good hands. With my experience, knowledge, and love for what I do, you can trust that your best friend will receive the best care and you will be updated every step of the way, as much or as little as you’d like!

You may be wondering what benefits there are to hiring someone with a degree in veterinary nursing and experience in feline rescue to look after your pets. After all, it is true that any animal lover can become a pet sitter; so, what sets me apart from others?

  • Trained in small animal first aid.
  • A good understanding of animal behaviour, which is useful for walking dogs, gaining the trust of your pet, and spotting signs of stress or aggression.
  • The ability to notice symptoms of illness and act accordingly.
  • The ability to give a variety of medications with as little stress to your pet as possible.
  • Awareness of contagious diseases and how to keep your pets safe during and between visits.
  • Good people skills, time management, and organisational skills.
  • The ability to critically analyse information, which informs my decisions on how I go about my work. This means you can trust that any decision I make is done with as much thought and knowledge behind it as possible.
  • The understanding that above all else, you love your pets dearly and want the best for them in your absence!

Even if you have an animal whose species I am not very familiar with, or who has a behavioural issue, I am more than happy to learn what it takes to care for them as pets are my passion. I will enthusiastically take on the challenge and listen to your guidance every step of the way.

Services

  • Pet Visits

I will visit your home to make sure that your furry friend has fresh food and water, a clean environment, is displaying their normal behaviours, and is given any medication they need. I will of course also make sure that they receive plenty of love and attention! My visits are an average of 45 minutes long, and if you are away for multiple days I can take out bins, water plants, open/close curtains/blinds to keep the house looking lived-in, bring in parcels, and vacuum the floor as requested.

Did you know that stress can have a significant impact on the health of our pets? Not only can stress exacerbate existing conditions, but it can also weaken the immune system, making them vulnerable to new diseases. The main benefit of my pet visits is that your animals will be taken care of in their own familiar surroundings, meaning the stress of travelling and staying in a strange new place is eliminated, and your pet stays as comfortable as possible right where you left them.

  • Dog Walks

A walk gives your dog the chance to go to the toilet and get some fresh air, exercise and mental stimulation. The solo nature of my walks ensures that your canine companion will get 100% of my attention, which is useful for dogs with behavioural issues, or who like a nice quiet walk by themselves. Safety is also increased during individual walks compared to group walks, as the walker can act more quickly and easily in the event of an emergency, and fights are less likely to occur between dogs.

Dogs require frequent exercise regardless of breed or age, but the form that this takes and for how long will vary between dogs. This service is most popular for people who work during the day and want their dog to get out of the house for a while, have a potty break, and burn off some steam. As they say, ‘a tired dog is a good dog’, so a walk will help them be calmer, more receptive to training, less likely to be destructive in the house, and they will generally be happier and healthier for it. I will also accommodate household pairs of dogs.

  • Claw Clips

Nail care is important for our pets' overall health and wellbeing. Keeping claws at an appropriate length ensures animals can perform their natural behaviours and avoid discomfort. This is particularly true for indoor cats and elderly pets who need a little extra help. I am more than happy to give your pet a pedicure, regardless of their species!

When allowed to become overgrown, claws can curl into paw pads, becoming very painful and even infected. Long nails can also lead to difficulty walking, change the way your pet distributes their body weight, and can make health issues like arthritis even worse. Pain may also have an impact on your pet’s behaviour, such as how tolerant they are of handling, aggression when the painful area is touched, and changes in appetite. You wouldn’t feel so hot if you were hurting either! Keeping your pet’s nails trimmed may also help reduce damage to your skin, furniture, and flooring.

  • Ear Cleans

Our pets’ ears require regular inspection and cleaning to keep them healthy and free of debris. This is an area of care which is often overlooked. I will gladly clean your pet’s ears for you. It is very important to regularly inspect your pet’s ears for excessive wax, discharge, foul odours, and redness/inflammation. These signs can indicate the presence of infection or parasites such as ear mites, so it is vital that we are there for our furry friends and help them out by keeping their ears clean.

Did you know that dog breeds with very hairy, floppy or long ears are more prone to ear infections? This is because it is more difficult for air to circulate into the ears, trapping moisture and warmth for bacteria and yeasts to grow. This can be particularly true if your dog has regular baths or enjoys swimming, as it can be a little harder for the ears to dry out properly.
